Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the fuel price data come from?

All data is sourced from the official UK Government Fuel Finder service. Fuel retailers are legally required to report their prices to this database, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the UK.

How often are prices updated?

Prices are refreshed automatically every 15 minutes from the government database. The "Data last updated" timestamp on the results page shows how recent the information is.

Why might prices differ from what I see at the station?

Fuel prices can change multiple times per day. While we update frequently, there may be a short delay between a station changing their price and it appearing in the government database. Some stations may also have different prices for pay-at-pump vs. pay-in-store.

How are distances calculated?

Distances are calculated as straight-line measurements (as the crow flies) between your search location and each fuel station. Actual driving distances may be longer depending on road routes.

What types of fuel do you track?

We currently display prices for unleaded petrol (E5) and diesel (B7). Some stations may also offer E10, Super Unleaded, or other fuel types, but these aren't included in the government dataset.

Can I report incorrect data?

If you notice incorrect information, please contact us. We can't directly modify station data, but we can help you report it to the appropriate authorities.
